The expression ‘industrial relations’ by itself means relationship that emerges out of day-to-day working and association of labor and management.
At BSL the employer-employee relations are quite sound and thereby the business environment is cordial. All the employees are treated as equal and as a step towards maintaining a sense of equality and unity, all the employees, the manager, deputy managers, supervisors, operators, as well as the employers like the President, Vice President, administrative officers or the clerks all dress them in the same uniform.
Generally, the environment at BSL is very healthy, but as a precaution they have a – Majdur Seva Sangh, a kind of Trade Union but active in positively motivating the laborers.
The middle – level employees include the skilled and semi-skilled employees. The grievances of these people are handled in a specific manner as describes below. In only a very serious case does the grievances reach the top management. Generally, the managers get done with it.

2. CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MARKETING - CRM
Developing close, cooperative, relationship with the customers is more important in the current era of intense competition and demanding customers, than it has ever been. CRM has attracted the expanded attention of scholars and practitioners. At BSL marketing shcholars are studying the conceptualization regarding the value and process of cooperative and collaborative relationship between buyers and sellers. Many scholars with interests in various sub-disciplines of marketing, such as channels, service marketing. Business – to – business marketing, advertising and so forth are actively engaged in studying and exploring the conceptual foundations of managing relationship with customers.

CASE : 1
Mr. Vinayak is a customer. He comes with a sample of cloth, of which he wishes to have more. Suppose, if BSL does not produce this fabric –

Mr. A will go to the development department where, the sample is tested. How many counts, warfs and vifts are there in one inch is what is generally analyzed.

If the development department feels that this product can be made, they would pass on the information for costing. Here, they would count all the costs for producing the cloth plus profit. This cost sheet is supplied to the Top Management, which looks at the project from the feasibility angle.

If the top management feels like approving the project, the project is undertaken, otherwise not.

Marketers would conduct a market research to know the market trends and demands of customers this research brings out results that suit customer’s expectation.

The customer is taken to the stores and inventories to select the best fabric of his choice from there. He is also shown the various processes if he demands so. In this way, the customer is satisfied to the greatest extent possible.

The marketing people, i.e. the people involved in the distribution channels, like the marketers, sales persons, the agents, etc. they go to various institutes, organizations or associations and display their products.
This is the latest practice as the current focus of BSL is the uniform market.

Another most common way to reach the customer, to provide them the best export quality products of BSL is through its buyers like Madura Coats and Indusleague in India and J.C. Penny and Levis Strauss abroad, also Dupont and Peter England.
3. EMPLOYEE RELATIONSHIP MARKETING
Employees form the major and the most vital part of any organization. Here, it would include all skilled, semi-skilled, unskilled workers of the organization who render their services to the company.
The main job of the Top management is to make the employees feel that they are important. When an employee feels secure with his job, he automatically builds a relationship bond with the organization and this makes the organization a family.
When all the people in the organization have a same objective, it becomes easy to obtain them. BSL is one of the best examples of employee relationship. They conduct employee-training programs at all weekends. They provide their provide their employees with residences, schools, and playgrounds, parties, which become the non-financial incentives.
The financial incentive plans of BSL includes the following incentives for the employees/staff :
Minimum Wages Act is invariably followed.
Wages and Salary are in accordance with the government regulations.
Special increments for better performance are provided.
Festival Bonus is given.
The schooling expenses for the employees’ children are also provided.
Medical allowances and reimbursement are given to the personnel at times of requirements.
Schemes like Employee’s State Insurance Schemes, Gratuity and Provident Fund are practiced.
Compensation or disability benefits are provided when required.
Privileged Leave of 1month is given to the employees. If such leaves were not taken then 5% of salary would be given as incentive.
Incentives play an important role in managing this element of the organization. BSL has taken all measures to ensure, through justified incentives, that the employees develop belongingness towards the company.
